Thursday, Jan. 10, tickets for the Houston Rodeo went on sale at 10 a.m. The virtual waiting room opened at 9:30 a.m. and Rodeo goers began to flood in.

After signing in, many waited several hours in the waiting room only to get a message saying that their session had timed out.

“I was kicked out of the virtual waiting rooms five times,” senior Micayla Jones said. “For George Strait, I was waiting for two hours and then they were sold out anyway. For Cody Johnson and most of the rest, the wait was maybe 30 minutes.

In some cases, the people-to-ticket ratio was sky-high. There were 30,000 people waiting to get a hand on one of the 18,000 George Strait tickets.

“Unfortunately, for the George Strait performance, there were 30,000 people in the waiting room for 18,000 tickets,” Joel Cowley, president of the Houston Rodeo, said. “In the case of Cardi B, there were 12,000 people for a little over 14,000 tickets, so certainly not all of those customers were able to buy tickets for these shows.”

The lineup includes artists like Cardi B, Luke Combs, Brad Paisley, Camila Cabello and Turnpike Troubadours. Entertainers will take the stage at approximately 8:45 p.m. on weekdays and approximately 5:45 p.m. on weekends.
